After S. Kiyotaka & Omega Tribe broke up in 1985, producer Koichi Fujita had Toshitsugu Nishihara and Shinji Takashima of the former band team up with the Japanese-Brazilian vocalist カルロス・トシキ [Carlos Toshiki], who Fujita discovered through demo tapes, and Mitsuya Kurokawa, who at the time was the guitarist in Momoko Kikuchi's backing band (who Fujita also produced).

Kurokawa left in March 1988, and the group changed their name to Carlos Toshiki & Omega Tribe. Joey McCoy, who did backing vocals on their album Down Town Mystery ("Night Time" Version) (recorded while the band was still 1986 Omega Tribe), joined them officially in July 1988. On December 14, 1990, the band announced their plans to disband after a final tour, and officially ended upon the conclusion of their final show at Nissin Power Station on March 16, 1991.
